Maroon 5
Maroon 5 has become one of the hottest bands to come along in a while. There are 5 members, Adam Levine, James Valentine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden and Matt Flynn. Their first band minus James Valentine began in junior high school, they were called Kara’s Flowers. They played their first gig in 1995 at the famous Whisky a Go Go. They signed with Reprise Record in High School and recorded and released an album called Fourth World in 1997. The album did not do very well and the band left the record company in 1999. Once the band changed names and James Valentine joined the band in 2001, they found success and copies of the Fourth World were being sold left and right.
In their first album with the new name, they recorded Songs About Jane. This album released a song called Harder to Breathe as it’s first single and that song became their claim to fame. It started out slow but gained steam and eventually the album hit the top 20 of the billboard charts. After the release of their first album in 2002, the band hit the tour circuit and have toured with everyone from Gavin DeGraw, The Thrills and The Donnas.
In 2007, the band’s second album called It Won’t Be Soon Before Long was released. The band used 80’s icons for their inspiration from artists such as Prince, Shabba Ranks and Michael Jackson. Their single Make Me Wonder hit # 1 and the video appeared on iTunes at # 1 which broke all sort of records. The next single She will be loved features Kelly Preston, wife of actor John Travolta. The band is on a hot streak and there seems to be no signs of slowing down. We can expect more from Maroon 5 in the future.
